The best 90s TV dads
No music is so pleasant to my ears as that
word―father. The gift of a Father cannot be seen by our eyes, yet he sacrificed
his every breath, sweat and everything to comfort us, his family.
With Father’s Day fast approaching, I took
a look back on my favorite era of TV dads… the 90s! From the always
outrageous Tim Taylor, to the perpetual salesman, Al Bundy, and the
end-every-episode-with-a-hug, Danny Tanner, 90’s dads bring me right back to my
childhood.
Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)
We can’t imagine a world
without The Simpsons. The longest running animated show of all time has enjoyed
much of its success do to the bumbling yet lovable father of Bart, Lisa and
Maggie. D’oh!
Philip Banks (Fresh Prince of
Bel-Air)
You’d think being a father to
Hilary, Ashley, Carlton, Nicky, and father-figure to nephew Will was a
full-time job, but “Uncle Phil” was also a prominent judge and a lawyer as well
as a loving husband to Vivian. No matter what the antics, judgment was always
fair in the “Big Guy’s” household.
Danny Tanner (Full House)
Raising three girls is no
easy task but the co-host of “Wake Up, San Francisco” had plenty of support
from Uncle Jesse and his pal, Joey Gladstone. Cut. It. Out.
Tim Taylor (Home
Improvement)
In between hosting “Tool
Time,” working on hot rods, and battling Bob Vila, Tim the “Tool-man”
Taylor always found the time to be a wacky yet loving father to Brad,
Randy and Mark. “More power!” *cue manly grunting*
Frank Lambert (Step by Step)
This construction worker and
huge Green Bay Packers fan definitely had his hands full with his being a
father to JT, Alicia and Brendan, step-father to Dana, Karen and Mark, and
uncle to surfer dude Cody. Building a solid family foundation was no sweat!
Carl Winslow (Family Matters)
Although Carl was a father of
three and Chicago Police Chief, we may remember him most fondly for his
hilarious exchanges with his annoyingly endearing neighbor, Steve Urkel.
Al Bundy (Married with
Children)
This working class father of
Kelly and Bud would say his best accomplishment was scoring four
touchdowns for Polk High in the city championship game, but after a long day of
selling shoes, he just wanted to do one thing: lounge in front of the TV. We
can relate to that.
Dan Conner (Roseanne)
He’s best known for being
Roseanne’s hubby, but we love this father of four for his sense of
humor, his affinity for a good poker game and his love for all things Chicago
sports.
